Disk Benchmark
Customers should expect their VPS to have performance similar, but not necessarily as fast as, a SATA disk. Despite the fact that we'd prefer to set lackluster expectations, the reality is that our disks are quite fast according to these benchmarks run 10/2/2009.
Analysis shows that random seeks are equivalent to average SSD disk levels, while throughput is similar to a local SATA disk. Some measurements were below that of the physical machine's SATA disk, but well within reasonable expectations. ('+' means too fast to measure)
Feedback on these results is encouraged.
