June 2008
So it has been a long while since we've published a newsletter, so there is quite a lot that hasn't been said. Yet, its hard to remember all that has happened since October when we published our last issue. Instead of listing everything, we'll just note some of the really big changes that spring to mind.
Updates to the community site
Our community site has been revamped with a new look, an improved Wiki, and a new 'changelog' section.
New Servers & Server changes
Since October, we've added faramir, vps008, and vps014. We renamed several machines into the vps009-vps013 range. The vps003 server was dissolved and migrated onto vps014, we may do likewise with vps004, vps005, vps009-vps013 though this has yet to be confirmed.
We've also done complete overhauls of the hardware in a number of our older shared-hosting machines, replacing everything and making more memory and resources available, increasing performance.
Software Changes
We are now supporting Fedora 8, and will be adding Fedora 9 support very shortly. We've fixed all of the known issues with CentOS and Fedora installations. All recent versions of Debian and Ubuntu are supported, as well as some not-so-recent versions. We are working on a way to improve the time-schedule for the deployment of new Fedora/CentOS releases, to bring it on par with our Debian and Ubuntu support (we have same-day availability of new releases of Debian and Ubuntu).
